About Digita11y
Digital Skills, for Everyone
Our Mission
Digita11y closes the digital skills gap in underserved communities by providing free, accessible, and inclusive courses in digital literacy, internet safety, coding, and AI literacy — to children, young adults, and people with different abilities in the UK and Kenya.
Our Story
Digita11y was founded to address a clear gap: millions of people — especially those in low-income communities or with different abilities — lack access to quality digital education. Technology shouldn't be a barrier. It should be a bridge.
Our founding team brings together expertise in community engagement, content strategy, and platform development, with a shared commitment to accessibility-first design.
Our Approach to Accessibility
Every course and every page on this site is built to meet WCAG 2.1 AAstandards. That means:
- Video captions and full transcripts
- Screen reader compatibility (tested with NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver)
- Dyslexia-friendly design: Nunito typeface, ≥16px body text, 1.6 line height
- Keyboard-only navigation throughout
- Colour contrast ratios ≥ 4.5:1 for all text
- Progressive loading for low-bandwidth connections
- Mobile responsive on all devices
Where We Work
Our MVP is focused on the UK — partnering with schools and community organisations to pilot our courses in 2026. We are building towards expansion into Kenya, with localised content and partnerships to follow.
Safeguarding & Compliance
We take the safety of our learners seriously. All UK-based instructors hold current DBS certificates. We are fully GDPR compliant, with transparent consent management and data protection policies. Our safeguarding policies are available on request.
